How do I apply my sealer to my stone?

First, make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of existing sealers or coatings. The best method of applying your Premium Gold or Enhance & Seal is by sponge to help cover evenly and prevent over-applying. Working in small sections, apply enough sealer to evenly cover the stone surface. Allow the sealer to work in to the stone for about five minutes. After five minutes have passed, use a clean, dry cloth to firmly buff the surface of the stone removing any excess sealer. It is extremely important to buff the surface of the stone because any sealer residue left behind will dry splotchy and leave behind a waxy or tacky finish. Allow 30 minutes drying time between coats. If applied properly, your surface is ready for traffic in 12 hours and should be kept dry those 12 hours.

I’ve applied my sealer and my stone still looks wet, what can I do to fix it? (This is a result of not buffing off all excess sealer during application)

If the sealer was applied within the last day or two, you may be able to try this first option: in a small area, reapply the sealer to the surface and allow to work in to the surface for 5 minutes. Take a clean, dry cloth and firmly buff the surface of the stone. If you notice this is helping remove the excess sealer, continue this process over the remaining areas. If this process does not work, please contact your sales representative or our customer service line for further instructions. We have different cleaners we will suggest however we will need additional information about the type of stone installed before we can make a recommendation.

What can you tell us about your classes?

Each of our showrooms offers a free DIY how-to class every Saturday morning at 9:30am. There is no need to sign up and there is no fee. What do you recommend for cleaning my tile?

While we have several products available here, some for more specific needs, our two best cleaners for general upkeep are our Grout and Tile Neutral Cleaner and Anti-Bacterial Cleaner. Each of these are considered safe for use on ceramic and stone alike and certainly help maintain any sealers you’ve applied. These products are found in each of our showrooms as well as our site. What color grout should I use with my tile?

Grout is as much a personal option as selecting your tile. We can make suggestions based on what’s commonly used but we strongly suggest that you select the color that is right for you. We have a great tool on our site called the Grout Selector tool that allows you to see a wide variety of our tiles with different grout colors.

If I order materials online, when can I expect my shipment?

Our materials are shipped via UPS or freight carrier for larger shipments. As long as the product ordered is in stock, we typically figure a max of 5-7 business days for processing, shipping and delivering the order. The tracking information is typically available the day following shipment and is forwarded to the email address you provide.
