10. Chateau Kitchens’ Spledours Grey Backsplash

This year saw a penchant for the perfectly imperfect artisanal charm of handmade-look tile. Providing a little more predictability than authentic handmade tile, the natural shade variation in the Splendours Grey subway tile creates beautiful visual texture on this stunning modern backsplash designed by Chateau Kitchens. We love how the double herringbone pattern adds an unexpected sense of movement to the space.

9. Fox Homes’ Bright & White Prep Space

Continuing on the handmade trend is this charming and chic kitchen by Fox Homes. Each Moroccan-made Zellige tile is individually crafted and glazed by hand, giving this tile a truly unique appearance. The subtle variation in glaze and surface texture of this simple square tile creates a modern look with distinct character.

8. Angelia Guthrie’s Modern Marble Kitchen

This open kitchen in the middle of an urban loft uses large-format marble tile to create a stylish slab look. Fewer grout lines create cohesion between tiles, making the wall look even more expansive than it is. The Calacata Evora Honed tile features subtle grey and honey gold veining for a luxurious, fluid look. Explore our full selection of large-format tile to achieve a slab look in your kitchen.

Classically chic subway tile is a trend that’s here to stay, and the brick-lay patterned backsplash, featured in six of the top-ten kitchens, is a definite favorite. The Brick x Brick by Alison Victoria is a porcelain tile with the appearance of an elevated brick. This elongated subway tile makes this backsplash feel modern and designed while the variation in surface tones creates extra interest. This cozy kitchen, designed by Jenni Yolo from the popular I SPY DIY blog, features two of this year’s favorite kitchen trends: handmade-look tile and brick-lay subway tile. The unique character of the Annie Selke Artisanal White subway tile adds to the rustic-chic aesthetic of this kitchen. The mason jar hanging light and antique steel faucet complement the tile, and the old-fashioned cutting board and landscape painting complete the modern farmhouse look.

The tumbled finish on the Meram Blanc Carrara marble tile creates a roughness that, combined with the soft colors, gives this space a warm and inviting feel. We love how the dark wood shelves contrast the white marble, adding to the space’s chic, organic feel. The elevated materials definitely fits into Our Home Colonial’s charming antique aesthetic.
