STEP INSIDE

This exquisite bathroom from our Plymouth showroom was designed by Kirsty Froelich, Tile Shop Director of Design. A masterclass in layering trim and color, this space infuses timeless architecture with a soothing coastal palette. From the picture-frame shower accent to the molded trim and skirting, every surface is shaped by thoughtful tile details.

Read on for a closer look at the design choices that brought this beautiful bathroom together and for expert tips to help you confidently approach your own tile projects.

Traditional Elegance With Contemporary Appeal

What do we mean when we call a space “timeless”? It combines traditional and contemporary elements, also known as transitional design. This universally appealing style blurs the line between past and present by celebrating the best of both.

Here, you can see how these seemingly disparate styles effortlessly complement each other. Traditional elements in this space include the wainscot-height tile, topped with trim to resemble chair rail molding, and the elegantly carved legs of the wooden vanity. While subway tile may feel contemporary, it actually rose to popularity in the early 1900s—Victorians loved it for how it symbolized cleanliness and modernity.

Decidedly contemporary elements include the sleek lines and a mix of cool and warm neutrals—note the wooden vanity, Shapes Elongated Hex Off White Two Tone mosaic accents, and the beige detail in the patterned floor tile. The black shower fixtures, minimalist light fixture and mirror further enhance the contemporary feel of the space, while the color palette evokes the sea and sand of coastal chic design.

This space proves that you don’t need to strictly adhere to a single style. By blending designs, you can create a look that defies trends and is uniquely your own.

Schedule a free design consultation.

A Signature Design

Featuring a suite of pieces from the Tile Shop–exclusive Signature collection, this space exemplifies how to mix these elevated basics to create a design that delivers color, depth and dimension.

Signature Denim gloss subway tile serves as the base of the layout, with layered molding details in coordinating trim. Denim London trim finishes the top of the shower divider, with a band of Denim pencil trim below that is carried across the tiled half wall, creating a traditional chair-rail design. Along the floor, a layer of Denim skirting trim finishes the edge with a subtle decorative flourish.

Designed to coordinate, the Signature collection features a range of subway field tile and matching trim in 16 versatile colors, available in both glossy and matte finishes.

Picture Perfect

A tile “picture frame” detail serves as the focal point of the shower area, creating visual interest by punctuating the design and introducing new colors and shapes to the installation. The Shapes Hex Elongated Off White Two Tone mosaic tile adds a wonderful sense of movement, with vertical and diagonal lines that contrast with the long horizontal lines of the subway tile, installed in a brick-lay pattern.

A successful tile focal point is proportional to the space. Here, the shower fixtures are positioned along the center line of the framed area, while the upper and lower borders allow for a comfortable amount of space around the fixtures, trim edges, and surrounding wall, ceiling and floor.

Off-white grout lines throughout the space provide an element of visual continuity between the mosaic detail and surrounding walls, while subtly accentuating the precise alignment of the frame’s top and bottom borders with the adjacent rows of subway tile.

“You need a trim piece to finish off transitions (where two different finishes come together), so I like to layer in pieces that will work with the overall design.

“If you want your transition to stand out, select a different material or color from your main tile. For a seamless transition, choose a trim piece that matches your main tile.”

–Kirsty Froelich, Director of Design

Layered in Detail

The decorative Shapes Elongated Hex Off White Two Tone mosaic tile is framed by three layers of trim. The Signature Denim London and pencil trim pieces are bisected by a line of Signature Gris square pencil trim. Building dimension around the decorative mosaic, these distinct profiles transform the space with crafted architectural detail.

Parisian Pattern

Featuring an ornate motif reminiscent of French scrollwork, the Alison Victoria French Connection Le Marais tile (also available in Saint Germain [dark green] and Montmartre [blue]) introduces subtle pattern to the space. A faded beige brick design draws the eye across the room, making the floor appear wider. Notice how the tile is installed on a diagonal, perpendicular to the tiled shower seat. This placement helps visually open the space, as the design expands outward from the shortest wall.

Bold geometry, delicate florals and HGTV Star Alison Victoria’s signature city-chic motifs—you’ll find a design to suit your space in our extensive selection of patterned tile. 👉

Pro Tip: A built-in shower seat and curbless entry make this space easier to navigate for people with mobility issues—essential elements of universal design.

Form Meets Function

The best design elements are both decorative and functional. By providing a stylish space to store toiletries, a niche is an excellent addition to any shower. Here, the niche features the Shapes Elongated Hex Off White Two Tone mosaic tile, echoing the decorative picture frame. A band of Signature Denim gloss pencil trim outlines the niche, easing the transition between the recessed shelf and the surrounding tile.

Combining the sleek, stylish aesthetic of modern design with the rich, rugged textures of rustic style, modern rustic design satisfies contemporary sensibilities while fostering a connection to the natural world. With a neutral palette, natural materials and contemporary details, these 22 stunning modern rustic kitchen tile ideas will transform the heart of your home with luxurious, enduring design.

1. Add Perfectly Imperfect Details With Handmade-Look Tile

Featuring intentional variations in surface texture and color, handmade-look subway tile blends rough, unfinished rustic design with a sleek, contemporary silhouette. Choose a neutral color and pair it with natural textures for a true modern rustic look—like the Tribeca Gypsum White tile (also available in Oatmeal and Basalt) showcased on this elegant kitchen backsplash.

For a wealth of perfectly imperfect designs, explore our wide selection of handmade-look tile.

2. Choose Sustainable Hardwood

Natural, sustainable materials are essential to modern rustic design. Exposed wood beams and hardwood floors bring warmth and a rugged aesthetic to any space. Made with a eucalyptus core and an oak veneer, engineered hardwood combines the beauty of solid wood with exceptional durability and sustainability. Featuring our exclusive Corlee Heritage Oak flooring, this bright, open space shows how you can extend this modern rustic element from your kitchen to the rest of your home.

3. Pair White With White

Bright, elegant and endlessly versatile, white tile always feels chic and clean. If you love the airy look of an all-white kitchen, pair your white cabinetry and countertops with white marble—natural materials like stone bring the organic details that define modern rustic design.

This beautiful kitchen, designed by @reems_design, features Hampton Carrara subway tile installed in a herringbone pattern along the backsplash. The subtle grey and beige veining adds rich visual texture, creating a subtle tonal contrast that adds depth to this monochromatic space.

4. Choose Stone & Wood Looks

If you appreciate the beauty of natural stone but want to skip the upkeep, stone-look porcelain offers an exceptionally durable and easy-to-care-for alternative. Available in sizes up to 48″ x 48″, large format porcelain tiles pair the beautiful appearance of an expansive stone slab with the scratch-, water- and stain-resistant properties of porcelain. (And unlike natural stone, man-made porcelain will never require sealing.)

Here, Navona Bianco porcelain 24″ x 48″ backsplash tile is paired with Arbour Midlands Hickory Tavern wood-look luxury vinyl flooring. Together, these materials deliver the natural look of wood and stone but are easier to maintain, easier to install and easier on the budget.

5. Pair White Subway Tile With Wood Details

If you’re updating your kitchen, you might already have a white subway tile backsplash. This classic staple is incredibly versatile and, since it first came into popularity in the early 1900s, has continued to feel contemporary. To transition into a more modern rustic look, add natural accents to complement your white subway tile—like the chic wood-patterned range hood featured in this modern kitchen, designed by @almahomes.

Pro Tip: One of our most popular styles, subway tile works with a wide range of contemporary and traditional designs, making it an excellent choice if you like to update your space regularly.

6. Use Natural Stone for a Refined Rustic Look

While today’s marble-look tiles are more convincing than ever before, no man-made material can truly capture the uniqueness and luxury of real stone. No two pieces of slate, travertine or marble are ever the same, and it’s this authenticity that makes them perfect for modern rustic design. Expressive or subtly veined, marble tile adds a refined rustic aesthetic to your kitchen backsplash—as seen in this stunning space featuring grey- and beige-veined Siberian Pearl.

Shop our most popular natural stone materials: marble, slate and travertine.

7. Match a Mosaic With Wooden Cabinets

Like natural stone, natural wood is beloved for its organic beauty and authentic feel, making it an ideal fit for modern rustic design. If your kitchen features wood with a distinctive or prominent grain, try highlighting that detail by pairing it with a geometric tile pattern—like the Imperial Moss Gloss Rhombus tile in this contemporary kitchen, designed by @cassandra_brand_interiors. The uniform grout lines running through this backsplash wonderfully contrast with the fluid, organic movement of the woodgrain in the cabinetry and range hood.

The handmade-look tile showcases subtle color and surface variations that add refined visual texture. 10. Feature a Dark Natural Stone

Richly textured and authentically unique, natural stone embodies the essence of modern rustic design. While white marble complements a contemporary color palette, a dark stone—such as the Silver Grey quartzite shown here—adds drama to modern spaces, especially when paired with white cabinets and sleek black fixtures.

11. Pair Stone With Steel

To integrate stainless steel appliances into a modern rustic kitchen, balance them with natural materials elsewhere in your design. A natural stone backsplash—like the Royal White Hex marble featured in this stunning space—adds rustic charm while contrasting with the sleek modern appliances. We love how the crisp geometric hexagon tile brings a dynamic, organic sense of movement to this counter-to-ceiling backsplash.

We love the look of tile extending from counter to ceiling in the previous space, but if your modern rustic kitchen needs added storage, consider reducing the height of your backsplash and using open shelving as a natural stopping point.

In this farmhouse-chic kitchen from I SPY DIY, customer-favorite Nuovo Riad Bianco tile is installed in a brick-lay pattern from the counter up to an extended wood floating shelf, which serves double duty as both a practical storage feature and a place to display a collection of rustic decor.

13. Create a Stylish Sense of Movement With Chevron Tile

The zigzag pattern of chevron tile naturally draws the eye across a space. When paired with the organic veining of marble, it creates a dynamic sense of movement that brings the room to life. In this gorgeous kitchen, designed by Nikki Chu, Meram Blanc Carrara Chevron tile adds soothing visual texture through its soft white and grey tones. The wicker light fixture introduces an extra layer of rustic warmth that balances the stone beautifully.

If you love the fluid movement of this backsplash, shop our wide selection of chevron tile.

14. Incorporate Organic Designs

If you think pattern has no place in modern rustic design, think again! Nature-inspired motifs can add unexpected delight to your space while staying true to the style. This charming kitchen features Morris & Co. Hawkdale Willow Olive tile; the lovely leaf pattern—drawn from historic William Morris wallpaper—adds a touch of greenery that feels both organic and modern.

Shop our wide selection of patterned tile to discover more nature-inspired designs.

15. Pair Dark Tile With Blonde Wood

Modern rustic design favors natural colors and textures, but there’s still plenty of room to express yourself while maintaining a neutral palette. Here, @thedivinelivingspace designed a space that is both soothing and tonally complex. By pairing Glass Stoney Grey tile with blonde wood and white cabinets, the room achieves a tranquil balance of contrasting elements.

16. Fill a Large Space With Mosaic Tile

The small pieces that make up mosaic tile create a complex tableau that can make any space feel larger and more dynamic. In this beautiful kitchen, designed by Timber Trails, Hampton Carrara Tumbled Large Herringbone mosaic tile covers the expansive backsplash, providing stunning texture that stands out against the white cabinets, walls and ceiling. In a space this open, a limited palette of colors and textures maintains a sense of tranquility, while the exposed wood beams and wide stone backsplash add subtle contrast and interest.

If you love this richly textured look, explore our wide selection of mosaic tile.

17. Weave a Beautiful Backdrop

Crisp white and warm beige marble are woven together in the Sampson mosaic tile featured on this elegant kitchen backsplash. The intersecting lines of the basketweave design give the space a sense of movement that feels both orderly and organic. Gold hardware elevates the look with sleek, contemporary style, while wooden accessories enhance the tile’s subtly rugged aesthetic.

18. Infuse Your Space With the Textured Detail of Tumbled Stone

Created by quite literally tumbling raw stone with rocks, tumbled marble is at once smooth yet subtly textured. This timeworn look enhances the warmth and character that define modern rustic interiors. Here, Meram Blanc Carrara tumbled marble adds depth and personality to the counter-to-ceiling backsplash while maintaining the soft, neutral color scheme that highlights the wood accents found throughout the space.

19. Add Natural Color

Crisp white stone walls are emblematic of modern rustic design, but there’s still room for color in this contemporary style. To add vibrancy, choose hues that echo the palette found in nature. Green and blue—especially in darker or muted tones—create a calming contrast to warm-toned woods and textured stone. To further enhance the rugged, organic feel of your space, opt for handcrafted Zellige or handmade-look tile, such as the Zellige Dirty Blue Gloss tile shown here.

20. Combine With Coastal Design

There are as many design styles as there are homes—and the people who live in them—because every space, like every person, is unique. If your home already reflects a particular style, or you’re drawn to more than one aesthetic, consider blending them to create a space that truly expresses your individuality.

This kitchen, featuring subtly textured Jeffrey Alan Marks Natural Zen Birchwood White tile, white cabinetry, and a wooden countertop, embodies many characteristics of modern rustic design, while also expressing the breezy elegance of coastal chic style. By blending refined and raw elements, modern rustic design works beautifully with a wide range of contemporary looks.

If you love this relaxed, beachy vibe, explore our exclusive Jeffrey Alan Marks designer collaboration.

21. Go Dark

While modern rustic style often favors a light color palette, incorporating darker elements adds weight and depth to your space. When choosing a dusky tile, select a material that stays true to the style. Black stone and handmade Zellige tile—like the Zellige Dark Grey Gloss tile shown here—embody the rugged, natural aesthetic characteristic of rustic design.

Love the authentically unique character of this handcrafted tile? Shop our wide selection of Zellige tile.

22. Combine Modern Rustic With Industrial Design

The modern side of this versatile style makes it especially compatible with industrial design. Whether you live in an urban loft or a suburban ranch, you can incorporate metals and cement—or cement-look large format tile—into your modern rustic space to create a chic industrial vibe. This stylish kitchen, designed by Angelia Guthrie, features a Calcata Evora Honed tile backsplash; the subtly veined white marble softens the stark industrial elements in this cool, open space.

Crisp and pristine, white makes any space look and feel clean—the perfect shade for a bathroom vanity. Whether you’re searching for tile ideas to pair with your existing fixtures or planning a full bathroom redesign, these 24 design ideas will help you choose the right tile or flooring to complement your space and style.

1. Match White on White

Brilliant and bright, white won’t overwhelm the senses like more saturated hues. It’s perfectly acceptable to pair a white tile with a white vanity, but to prevent your space from feeling too stark, consider adding tonal variations elsewhere.

Here, the Coco White Glossy wall tile is paired with a white vanity, but the straight-stack subway installation features soft beige grout that echoes the pinkish beige countertop and sink basin. The subtle shift between the tile and grout tones softens the look of the all-white design while black accents add contrast.

Shop our selection of white tile for more tonally cohesive ideas.

2. Choose a Sandy Hue

Soft and soothing, beige tile maintains your bathroom’s neutral palette while adding neuanced tonal depth. Here, the Wave Old Cream tile enhances the serene color scheme with its gentle movement and softly rounded edges. If you love this curvy design, shop the Wave in this colorway and three others: Blue Reef, Grey Owl and White.

3. Create a Coastal Chic Space

Whether you’re East Coast, West Coast, or no-coast, you can transform your house into a beachhouse with the breezy beauty of modern coastal chic design. More than shells and wicker, this ocean-inspired style celebrates relaxed refinement.

This airy bathroom features the Jeffrey Alan Marks Sand Dollar Ocean tile. Its radiating pattern in cool blue offers a subtle coastal nod, while the white vanity and wainscoting balance the design, creating a space that feels crisp and open, yet rich in visual texture.

4. Pair With an Ornate Pattern

5. Add Drama With Black Details

Black and white is a natural pairing that offers dramatic yet harmonious contrast. This stately space, designed by @fivestarfinishllc, pairs a contemporary white sink vanity with Signature Bianco Gloss subway tile and Octagon Matte White with Black mosaic floor tile. The wall design is highlighted with black grout and Signature Black Gloss pencil trim.

Find more contrasting designs in our wide assortment of black-and-white tile.

6. Choose Lush White Marble

Crisp or creamy, white marble brings beautiful, understated elegance to any space. Pair a white vanity with white marble for an effortlessly fashionable look that works with a range of traditional and contemporary styles, like this Annie Selke–designed bathroom, which exudes Hollywood glamour. If you love this exquisite space, explore our exclusive Arctic White collection for warm, white marble in coordinating field, mosaic and trim pieces.

7. Add Durable Natural Detail With Luxury Vinyl

If you love the look of wood or stone but not the maintenance, exceptionally durable luxury vinyl flooring offers an affordable, easy-to-install alternative. Made from 100% waterproof material, luxury vinyl—like the Cyrus Plus Akadia shown here—lets you achieve a natural wood look in a moisture-prone bathroom. We love how the blond wood detail complements the white vanity in this contemporary space. Note: Luxury vinyl is not recommended for wet rooms or showers.

8. Bring a Pop of Blue

Like a statement belt, a pop of color in an otherwise white room makes your design feel elevated and intentional while adding visual interest. Here, @kalensplace pairs a double white sink vanity with the Laura Ashley Wicker Sea Spray Matte tile. Featuring a light blue background with a whimsical geometric floral motif, this tile adds color without overwhelming the space. On the floor, it helps ground the room; however, it would also look stylish on a wall or backsplash.

Shop your favorite colored tile to add a pop of your favorite hue.

9. Make It Artistic With an Abstract Pattern

Patterned tile comes in a wide range of styles—from dainty florals to dynamic geometric designs. If your aesthetic leans more toward cool eclectic than ornate elegance, consider an abstract pattern.

This chic bathroom features the Nikki Chu Zulu Cement tile—also available in Pumice (beige) and Graphite (black). Globally inspired and effortlessly suave, this tile infuses the space with a high-fashion look that pairs perfectly with the simple white vanity.

Explore our exclusive Nikki Chu designer collaboration for more abstract motifs in fashion-forward neutral color palettes.

10. Marvel With a Marble Mosaic

Mosaic tile’s small format draws the eye along and across the wall or floor, creating a sense of expansiveness, while the natural veining in marble introduces delicate movement. Combine the two for a space that feels both invigorating and serene. Pair a marble mosaic—like the Alison Victoria Malibu Edit Pescador shown here—with a stately white vanity to create an opulent tableau rich in visual interest.

Love this exquisitely elegant look? Shop our wide selection of mosaic tile.

11. Embrace English Country Cottage Design

If cozy elegance is your design sweet spot, English country cottage style might be your cup of tea. Combining the comfort of your grandma’s living room with the sophistication of Jane Austen’s drawing room, this style is equal parts ornate, quaint and whimsical.

Here, a feminine sink vanity is paired with the Laura Ashley Mr Jones Charcoal tile. The charming geometric floral pattern, inspired by the iconic British brand’s textile designs, adds an air of playful refinement to the space.

13. Create Dramatic Movement With Marble-Look Tile

Marble-look tile comes in a range of styles—from dramatic to delicate veining, or somewhere in between—like the elegant Lombardia White tile featured in this chic, contemporary bathroom designed by @jaimienelsondesign.

For more durable and easy-to-maintain alternatives to natural stone, check out marble-look tile.

14. Add Rustic Details

This rustic-modern space, designed by @kendalldesignbuild, exemplifies the rugged refinement that makes this design style so popular. The magnificent visual texture is complemented by the log cabin wall, while the sleek vanity adds a contemporary element, giving the space a stylish, modern feel.

15. Pick a Penny Tile Backsplash

Small but mighty, penny tile brings shape to your space, adding visual texture and interest—even when pairing a white vanity with a white backsplash. Notice how the Penny Round Gloss White creates a scalloped edge and subtle texture. We love how the cohesive white pairs with the blue accent walls and gold fixtures, but to accentuate your design further, you could install the penny tile with contrasting grout.

16. Add Dramatic Contrast

If you love the drama of a high-contrast design, consider pairing your white vanity with black floor or wall tile. This stylish space features the Noir Chevron tile. The black limestone showcases natural stone details, including delicate white veining, creating a visual throughline from the black-veined white stone countertop to the white vanity and mosaic floor tile.

Love this high-contrast look? Shop our wide selection of black tile.

17. Create a Playful Design

Designed for her young boys, @handmakeshome created a custom wall and floor layout that is both playful and classy. Glass subway tile in White, Storm and Light Blu is arranged in a straight stack with alternating checks and stripes. The hopscotch effect is cheerfully invigorating while maintaining neat lines. On the floor, Penny Round Gloss White tile is installed with a custom border of Penny Round Cloudy tile—its dark and light blue tones echo the coloration of the wall tile.

While a blue vanity would fit with this color scheme, the white vanity helps ground the space with sophistication, creating a room that not only serves young kids but will grow with them.

18. Show Your Stripes

Neat and chic, stripes deliver style while creating the illusion of height or width by drawing the eye along the wall or floor, making your space feel larger. This Timber Trails–designed bathroom features the Hex Matte tile in Black and White, arranged in long stripes across the floor. The monochromatic design echoes the white vanity and black countertop, though you could achieve a similar look in your preferred color scheme using virtually any two same-size hexagon tiles—or, for straight lines, two same-size subway tiles.

19. Cast a Hex

A classic look experiencing a resurgence in contemporary design, hexagon tile ranges in size from small 1″ x 1″ to large 13″ x 14″ formats. A dynamic shape, it combines diagonal and horizontal or vertical lines to create a wonderful sense of movement in your space. This stylish bathroom, designed by @peachandpineinteriors, features the Hampton Carrara Polished Hex marble tile. The marble’s natural grey and beige veining contributes to the elegant flow of the room, tonally complementing the white vanity while adding subtly rich visual texture.

21. Play With an Unexpected Checkerboard Pattern

Checkerboard is a timeless pattern that adds playful sophistication to any space. While a black-and-white square pattern is always on trend, if you want to put a fresh spin on tradition, consider mixing colors in unconventional shapes, like hexagons, subway tile, or large-format rectangles. Here, @pineislanddesign deconstructs the traditional board with the Cassettone Black mosaic tile. Featuring black squares with white borders, this design retains all the charm of a classic checkerboard while offering a unique twist.

Tonally, the tile blends with the creamy white vanity and walls, but the basketweave pattern—and the natural stone veining—adds subtle visual texture, introducing graceful complexity to this refined design. Dreaming of a seaside cabin? Whether you’re East Coast, West Coast or no-coast, you can transform your bathroom into a beach retreat with one of the year’s hottest design trends: coastal chic. From shimmering blues to sandy hues, these 12 tile ideas strike the perfect balance between sleek sophistication and sun-drenched relaxation.

1. Charm With a Sand Dollar Pattern

Embodying his effortless beach aesthetic, the latest tile in our exclusive Jeffrey Alan Marks designer collaboration brings a burst of energy to this soothing coastal chic space. The Sand Dollar Ocean tile (also available in grey Ash) features a blue sand dollar motif on a crisp white background. We love how the mostly white space lets the circular blue pattern shine, but you could easily dial up the coastal vibe with bright blue accents.

2. Evoke the Surface of the Sea

Subtle shifts in tone give the Hackney Dark Blue tile its stunning, undulating quality—hallmarks of handmade-look tile. Rich blues and a glossy finish create a shimmering effect as light dances across the surface, capturing the essence of water in motion. Explore our wide selection of handmade-look tile for more perfectly imperfect styles.

3. Make Sandy Waves

Blue isn’t the only color that elicits the oceanside—sandy hues capture the warmth of a day at the beach, even in the middle of a Midwest winter. The Wave Old Cream tile featured in this coastal bathroom soothes the senses with its soft, flowing movement. While this gorgeous beige pairs beautifully with the crisp white walls and vanity, you can elevate the coastal vibe with complementary light-blue accents.

4. Choose Cool Neutrals

Not every day at the beach is sun-soaked. Cool neutrals can be just as effective as warm tones in creating a breezy oceanscape. Here, the Jeffrey Alan Marks Summerland Miramar tile is paired with the Tribeca Gypsum White tile. The cool grey undertones of the handmade-look subway tile bring a soothing moodiness to this coastal chic bathroom, while the crisp white and sun-faded blue linen-inspired pattern adds a summery touch. 5. Pair Blue and Beige

Like sea and sand, blue and beige are a natural pairing that instantly evokes a coastal chic aesthetic. This stylish bathroom features the blue-green Look Avio subway wall tile alongside the sandy Ragno Taupe hex floor tile. The vibrant, cool tones of the handmade-look subway tile beautifully complement the warm beige-taupe floor tile. Notice how the prominent white grout lines in the grid-stack subway tile create a visual throughline to the geometric white pattern on the hex tile, as well as the white wall and shower floor tiles. Shop our wide selections of blue tile and beige tile to find your perfect combination.

6. Change the Game With a Black-and-White Palette

Here’s another take on the Jeffrey Alan Marks Summerland tile, this time in the dark-grey Toro. The black-and-white color scheme flips the script on the traditional blue-and-beige coastal palette. The faded linen-inspired patterned tile delivers coastal vibes, while the Tribeca subway wall tiles—in Gypsum White and black Basalt—add bold, color-blocked contrast. To keep the space coastal yet maintain the color scheme, add artsy black-and-white beach photos and white shells.

From vibrant cobalt to dreamy sky, blue is a versatile hue that is having a much-deserved moment in interior design. Blue can rejuvenate your space and brighten your mood — the perfect shade for the place where you often start and end a busy day. Here are twelve of our favorite bathroom tile ideas that will have you singing the praises of blue.

1. Pick Painterly Patterns

Taking its palette from the ocean that inspires her original watercolors, the Laura Park Seaside Marble wall tile mimics the veining of natural stone while coordinating with the vivid hues of the Cosmo Aegean Blue floor tile. The abstract pattern is derived from the famed designer’s artwork and her signature textiles. Paired with handmade-look Bespoke White—featuring a unique layout of tile 5″ squares and 2.56″ x 5″ rectangles on the upper wall—this artistic bathroom offers layers of visual texture within a beautifully cohesive color scheme.

2. Showcase a Marvelous Mosaic

A unique shape evokes gentle waves washing ashore on the California beach that serves as the namesake for the Alison Victoria Malibu Edit Pointe Dume tile. The deep blue marble features elegant white veining that enlivens this opulent sink backsplash. Rich and refined, this singular tile is the true jewel of any space—whether in this oceanic hue or its two other exquisite colorways: Matador (green) and Pescador (white).

These thin bands of blue separate rows of vertical, offset subway tile, adding rich visual texture while tonally complementing the Morris & Co. Pure Net Cloud Grey floor tile.
